A small corner local dating from 1854. It came into the ownership of the City Brewery, Lichfield, in the 20th century, and later Banks’s Brewery of Wolverhampton. The pub was formerly arranged as two rooms, with a small lounge to the left and a basic bar to the right, before being refurbished in 1992 into a single U-shaped room in a bright, traditional style. It was sold by Banks’s and reopened as a free house in 2004, and has been part of Black Country Ales since February 2016. It has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with a strong sports following. A selection of beers is available from twelve handpumps, including Black Country Ales, guest breweries, and two real ciders. Cobs, pork pies and samosas are served throughout the day.
