The Bluebell Inn & Lodge has been at the heart of Desford village life for more than 180 years. First recorded in 1841, the Bluebell began life as a traditional village beer house and shop, serving both locals and travellers passing through the village. Throughout the Victorian era and beyond, the pub became an important meeting place for the community, changing hands between several local families while maintaining its role as a centre of village life. The Starbuck family, who took over in 1912, became some of the Bluebell’s longest-serving custodians, helping establish its reputation as one of Desford’s most cherished pubs. As the village evolved, the Bluebell remained a constant presence and today stands as the last remaining pub
